Isaac and Ernie are good buddies - they played a game where Isaac would put his hand on Ernie's, and then Ernie would slide his hand back on top of Isaac's, and they would keep going back and forth.

Dad would slap his hand on the chair a certain number of times, and then Isaac would do it, too. They did it for a long time - and then he repeated the trick tonight at dinner. We're planning to include this in his college admissions application...

At Mom's graduation at Duke

On Saturday night, Isaac went with Dad, Grammie, and Aunt Jess to watch Mom graduate from Duke. It was a really long ceremony, but he made it halfway through before Grammie had to take him for a walk outside! Luckily, it was a beautiful evening...

Umm, is he crawling away from the chapel? Maybe he's crawling "toward his future"!

So, every morning we come into Isaac's room and one or more limbs is stuck between the slats of his crib. His thighs are just chubby enough and his muscles are just not strong enough to extract himself! We can't put the bumpers back in because he can stand up now, and might use them to climb out. Any suggestions on how to help him quit it?

A night out with friends

We went to Winston-Salem to visit with our friends Chris, Natalie, and Cam who live in Mt. Airy. It was Isaac's first-ever kids' meal at Moe's Southwest Grill (he had a tofu burrito - tofu because he hadn't had meat yet, and he really seemed to like it!)

Picking strawberries on Saturday

We found a strawberry farm that grows organic and biodynamic strawberries, and you can pick your own.

Mom and Dad tackled the "picking"...

It is truly amazing how quickly he learns! This is less than a week after the previous attempt at feeding himself, and he has improved exponentially!

Isaac has decided that he wants to feed himself lately. He is pretty insistent that he get to hold the spoon himself, even if it goes all over his face. Still, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

We went on a high school retreat this weekend in the mountains, and the youth had a lot of fun with him. (Mom and Dad enjoyed having 11 extra pairs of hands to hold him, too!)

He has started playing with Lucy more now - she is very patient with him!

...the exersaucer! He has total trust that it will catch him as he collapses his legs, and it does - bouncing right back up.
